Have you heard of the Rivoli Theatre? The Theatre is located at 10th and Dearborn St. in downtown Indy. The Rivoli was built in during the 1920's. The Rivoli was owned by Universal Studios and was the first one in the state of Indiana. The Rivoli remained open for a decade, closing its doors in 1937. The theatre opened and closed repeatedly and chancged ownership numerous times, finally closing for good in 1992. The Rivoli became a historic landmark in 2004 and the current owner has worked hard to restore the theatre.
As old historic buildings go, they are most assumed to be haunted. Previous employees have reported the ghosts of former customers. Some have been seen sitting in their seats waiting to catch the film. Some people have heard talking, laughing, and whispers when no one else was in the theatre. Workers and volunteers have felt as if they were being watched. Visitors have also spotted couples in tuxedos and ball gowns sitting in the empty theatre. Workers and volunteers have reported things moving on their own and being pushed by ghosts.
In certain areas of the building there is a sense of uncomfortableness. Some people have felt the sense of being watched while in the bathroom. Toilets flush on their own and the ghostly figure of a woman was seen through the mirror exiting a stall. There is much more paranormal activity in this theatre. Cold spots in the building and an occasional cigarette burning. Later to be found that the brand of cigarette is not even made anymore.
Saturday February 2, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. the Rivoli Theatre will be having a Vendor Fair. FREE entry will give you access to 50-60 vendors providing all sorts of goods for purchase. Prices will range from less than $1 and up. There will be many different types of vendors selling wares such as jewelry, toys, handmade goods, purses, candles, hand drawn family trees, wood burning, art pieces, and handicrafts.
A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Rivoli Theatre.
Rivoli members will be on site raising funds and selling refreshments, including baked goods.
Come out to support a historic landmark.
