The male brazilian or malezilian

More and more men are taking care of themselves these days.  Men's skincare lines are booming and exclusive men's only spas are shooting up in cities nationwide.  Men are finally discovering the benefits of using skincare and spa services.  In particular, there is one service that has gained a lot of popularity, the male brazilian!

It's one of the top services requested at Chicago Male Salon. They have waxed thousands of mens bodies over the past six years. Clients come in daily from all over the city to as far as Wisconsin and Indiana.  You're probably wondering, "who gets this done?" Well, the client list ranges from every ethnicity, age and body type to every career and sexual orientation. There is no specific type of person having this service. But there are different reasons men have for wanting to get a brazilian. Here are just a few:

  1. Cleanliness - Hair can hold sweat and odor.
  2. Sensitivity - Some say it enhances sex.
  3. Appearance - Makes the body look more defined and things may also appear bigger.
  4. Athletics - Wounds heal faster if no hair is present.
  5. Appeal - Makes you or your significant other feel better.

Whatever your reason may be for wanting a malezilian, make sure you do your research first. Most salons only let a female esthetician wax a female client and a male esthetician wax a male client. This is important because having a brazilian is quite invasive. It involves different positions and the client has to bare all. Male brazilians are more difficult and timely than a woman's brazilian. A true men's brazilian includes everything under the underwear. Yes, everything! And should include the use of hard and soft waxes to use on different skin textures. Make sure your esthetician is experienced and licensed. The salon should have the estheticians state license displayed for clients to see.

Before going in for your service you can always take an ibuprofin or benadryl. This will help if your body doesn't react well to the hair removal process. Some salons offer a numbing solution that can be used to reduce pain. Ask your esthetician about their personal recommendations. Hair length should be at least 1/4 inch to ensure a clean smooth skin.

During your waxing session breathe deeply to help you relax. If the process is very painful for you, don't be afraid to ask the esthetician to give you a breather. It's smart to have a glass of water on hand. On average a male brazilian shouldn't take more than an hour to complete. Ask your esthetician if they can blend the hair on your upper legs and on your stomach with a hair trimmer so no harsh lines are left from the waxing.

After your session has been completed, follow with the recommended maintenance products from your esthetician. Many men break out with acne, hives, redness and swelling after a waxing. There are products such as Tend Skin or Anthony Logistics ingrown hair treatment that can soothe and maintain your freshly waxed skin. Most men return for maintenance every 6-8 weeks.

Waxing may be a bit painful but the end result is smooth hair free skin. Waxing is better than shaving because results last weeks instead of days. In some cases the hair grows in softer and thinner after several sessions. Most important of all is to ask questions. The spa and esthetician you choose should have no problems explaining the process, what to expect and how to be prepared for your hair removal!
