All around Southwest Florida, men and women are wrapping up months of preparation for the Gulf Coast Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure, Bikini and Physique Championships on May 26, 2012. This is one of only two National Physique Committee (NPC) sanctioned events held in the area.
Normally shows like this will have a professional bodybuilder guest pose. Since this is the tenth anniversary of the Gulf Coast, they decided to gives us two International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) professionals. Juan “Diesel” Morel was a guest poser last year and he will be back to entertain the crowd. Joining him will be Jon Delarosa, who placed fifth at the New York Pro this past weekend. Spectators will also be treated to a special routine by last year’s Masters winner Tony DiCosta.
While most people are familiar with what bodybuilding entails, fewer are familiar with the other categories. Among the most popular ones at the Gulf Coast are the women’s figure and bikini and the men’s physique classes. These categories do not have the same emphasis on size and muscularity that the bodybuilding classes do. To learn more about the various categories, visit the NPC website.
If you’ve never been to a bodybuilding show, this is a good place to start. It’s a friendly atmosphere, filled with friends and loved ones there to encourage their favorite competitors. It’s also a good place to find a little inspiration. Just being around that crowd is sure to add some drive to your workouts.
This year the show is being held at Mariner High School, 701 Chiquita Blvd North in Cape Coral. (Click here for a map). Pre-judging will be at 9 a.m. and the evening show will start at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.
Come out and enjoy the show and admire the results of the hard work and dedication that all the competitors put into preparing for the show. Visit the event’s website for more information.
