Friday night, The Travel Channel will air the 100 episode of their hit TV series, “Ghost Adventures.” The special episode was filmed as the team investigated the original Exorcist house in St. Louis. It was in this house that the well-known possession occurred that was the basis for the critically acclaimed book and movie, “The Exorcist.”
The episode features the team with a few special guests that are connected to either the location or the story in some way. The renowned demonologist, Dr. William Bradshaw talks to the team about demonic possessions. They talked to Eileen Dreyer, the great niece of Father William Bowdern (the lead exorcist in the exorcism that happened in the house). Father Jack Ashcraft, a priest and exorcist, was supposed to join them on the investigation, but had a strange medical emergency come up instead. They also visit with Greg, a paranormal investigator who claims he was attacked in the house in 2009.
In a recent press conference call set up by the Travel Channel, the team, Zak Bagans, Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin, gave some insight about their investigation in St. Louis. They mentioned that for the first three hours, nothing happened. The Nick Groff tells what happened next, “So we go back to our base camp, and you know Zak says, ‘hey let’s bring in Greg’s Ouija board that Greg gave to us that we can use in the house.’ We bring that in to the second floor, right to the room where you know this boy was possessed when they were exercising him back - back when that occurred. Zak put the Ouija board down. Aaron tried warning us before we went in not to use it, but you know we tried to push the limit sometimes and do whatever it takes. Try to get evidence and capture thing.
Zak had the spirit box. He put [it] on the Ouija board and there was a weird moment for a second where I asked myself and Zak, and you see me say it out loud, ‘Do you want to do this?’ I pause and I was scared. Right now, I get kind of chills thinking about what happened to us in that moment reliving it right now. There’s nothing coming through and then suddenly we get some voices that come through.”
Zak Bagans added to those haunted feelings from Groff. “That’s why we’re shaken up. We’re still shaken up from it and we’re at a new location right now. It’s just, this is what we do week after week. It’s draining after a while, not because of the traveling but because of what we encounter sometimes, the energies. Like the energies are what blows my mind. They drag everything out of you, sometimes your own soul you know. You really have to mentally be stable or else you’ll lose it.”
The team also talked about some of the other upcoming investigations fans will see this season. “They’re crazy,” said Aaron Goodwin. “They’re awesome. We finally got to go to Alcatraz, and that was an experience. We’ve been trying to do that for a while. That finally happened. These Halloween specials, the Exorcist and going to Transylvania are just off the hook. We just did a cool reenactment scene in Prairieville. We did kind of different than normal and got some amazing evidence. I don’t know what I can say. I don’t know what to tell. We have some pretty awesome evidence. We actually go to a mustang ranch where it’s really haunted out there in Reno. That one’s pretty cool too.”
