Ted Nugent is a Board member of the National Rifle Association (NRA); however, his public words brings disgrace to himself and to the cause of the NRA. Regardless of whether one agrees or disagrees with the mission of the NRA, Nugent is a public face for the gun group. Nugent brings dishonor to the group every time Nugent opens his "racist" mouth. As if the NRA doesn't have enough problems with its image, as an uncaring group that only cares about gun manufacturers and gun interests, allowing Nugent this seat brings unwanted attention to the NRA and puts out a putrid odor.
Nugent should resign from the board, or dismissed by the board. Here are the reasons why.
Ted Nugent wrote a column recently in WND.com, "That when I first heard people say that they voted for Barack Obama because he was black, or that it was 'time' for a black president, my skin crawled." There is every reason to believe that upon learning of the election of Obama, Nugent's "skin crawled." In this piece, Nugent uses the words "racist" or "racism" ten times, it would seem he is obsessed with his own "racism."
There is no doubt that Nugent, along with many other older, white male Americans had an acute case of the "heebie jeebies," that a black man would lead this nation as its Commander-in-Chief.
Discrediting Obama has become a national passtime for many older, white males in challenging his election by saying that he only won because many felt obligated to elect the first black and that those of Nugent's ilk have to find a way to delegitimize his candidacy.
Those of Nugent's ilk also disparge his citizenship, as evidence of the "birther" crowd, claiming to have evidence he was not born in this country and therefore had no right to the presidency. Yet, not a peep from the Nugent ilk about Senator Ted Cruz's birth in Canada, and his father being a Cuban born.
Cruz is white, and presumably, one of them.
Nugent acknowledges "that statement of mine will be isolated and made out to be 'racist' by the dishonest media and the maniacally boneheaded Saul Alinsky gang over at the Huff-n-Puff Post and beyond."
Which means he is not only "racist," but also psychic. The way it goes, we call him "racist" and he calls those that called him out "liars."
In order to mask his "racism," Nugent says that the elections of Obama was the "real horror," and the "worst case of racism I have ever witnessed in my lifetime was the indecent choice en mass by millions of Americans who defiled the sacrifices and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and spat on his grave when they actually admitted that they voted for this president based on the color of his skin instead of the content of his character."
Adding, "God help us all."
The accusation from Nugent for those that supported Obama for election in 2008, and reelection in 2012, is that the "haters," meaning anyone who lawfully voted for Obama, "have no substance whatsoever for debate."
Nugent is the same man that name-called Obama, by referring to him as a "subhuman mongrel" and many other deliberately chosen words aimed at pleasing Nugent's base. This was the quote that got Nugent in trouble in the first place, causing concert promoters to cancel his appearances at their venues:
I have obviously failed to galvanize and prod, if not shame enough Americans to be ever vigilant not to let a Chicago communist-raised, communist-educated, communist-nurtured "subhuman mongrel" like the ACORN community organizer gangster Barack Hussein Obama to weasel his way into the top office of authority in the United States of America.
Not only does Nugent claim that those that voted for Obama only did so because he is "black," but that he is an "ACORN community organizer." Never mind that Obama never worked for ACORN, but that would spoil Nugent's "racist" narrative.
Near the end of his "racist" rant, Nugent asks, "Why a black president, or a woman president, instead of simply the best person for president?"
In Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, it should be pointed out to Nugent, he was the best "person" for the job.
Nugent neglects to mention the many accomplishments of Obama. There is bringing back the economy that was on the brink of disaster. Handed a jobs economy that was bleeding 750,000 jobs per month at the end of the Bush administration and at the very beginning of the Obama administration, the economy has managed a stunning job growth of nearly 10 million jobs over 52 months, dropping unemployment from over 10 percent, to the current level of 6.1 percent.
Or the reduction of the budget deficit, even causing talk of a year-long budget surplus. Or the winding down of the two Bush wars, cutting military spending by the billions and repealing the unwanted Bush tax cuts.
Nugent does not mention any one of these or other accomplishments, just some vague notion that something is wrong.
Yes, Obama is black is what is wrong in the twisted mind of Nugent. Nothing more.
In 2016, should she choose to run, Hillary Clinton will be the best "person" for the job.
Clinton's election is sure to make Nugent's "skin crawl," but since Clinton is also "white," maybe he will not catch such an acute case of the "skin crawls." It is known to occur in severely racist, older white men.
