Taylor Swift is speaking out about her reputation as a serial dater.
In the upcoming issue of UK's Glamour (via Country Weekly, October 1, 2013), Swift suggested that there was an element of sexism in all this. As she explained, "The way it works...is if you reach a point in your career where things are going very well, public perception needs a 'Yeah, but'..."
She continued, "Like, 'Yeah, but she's been on a lot of dates, apparently.' 'Yeah, but I hear she's crazy.' I think you'll find it has a lot to do with being a woman. And I resent that, that there has to be some downside to your personality or lifestyle if you're a woman and successful."
Swift has taken a lot of hits from the critics for having a lot of ex-boyfriends, and for using her relationships as material for her songs. Yet the so-called "serial dater" has actually been single for nearly ten months. She has not been in a relationship since Harry Styles.
It sounds like Swift is taking a healthy approach to dating these days. Although she still hasn't found her "perfect fit," she's content to enjoy her single life right now. As she explained, "whoever I date, famous or not—whether I ever date again!—all chaos will break loose. With fabrication and frantic obsession and who likes who more and how it ended. But right now is easy because I'm single and happy, and it's very relaxing."
Do you agree with Taylor Swift? Is it unfair to label her as a serial dater?
