Actor James Woods is no fan of the Obama administration or backing Syrian rebels as the country continues to suffer the ravages of war amidst internal conflict. On Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, Woods tweeted a photo that is currently making viral rounds with conservative bloggers and outspoken critics of military involvement in Syria from those who feel it is simply a bad idea to engage in more war to those who allege there are conspiracies at work. The validity of the photo has yet to be proved; but that doesn’t discredit its validity. The photo shows a young girl, chained to a fence, reportedly by Syrian rebels who were executing her parents and forcing her to watch the horrific scene.
Since Obama has discussed military involvement by assisting rebels against Assad’s regime, numerous photos and witness accounts have surfaced displaying the savage brutality committed by those who may oppose Assad, but still use extreme force to meet their own agendas. Reports of rebels slaughtering Christians, children and public beheadings for anyone who fails to convert to Islam on the spot have caused great concern for those who feel military involvement should not be used if we are only aiding in more human rights violations. While at the beginning of Syria’s Arab Spring, the rebels were seen as moderates rising up against Assad’s tyranny, it has expanded and evolved into a revolution fueled by jihadists and al-Qaeda terrorists.
The photo of the child reportedly chained to a fence while Syrian rebels forced her to watch her parents execution comes from a Facebook post from the page Syrian Truth and was posted on June 21, 2013. The photo has since been removed, but the wording that accompanied the original post according to The Sleuth Journal was published online. Syrian Truth continues to document brutalities committed by the Obama-backed Syrian rebels.
The Sleuth Journal reports the following, “According to Syrian Truth’s Facebook page, the above photo is of a toddler living in the Deir ez-Zor Governate in eastern Syria, bordering Iraq. She was tied up by members of the U.S.-supported “Free Syrian Army” — which is dominated by foreign, Sunni jihadis — and made to watch as her mother and father were killed for being Shia. Here is how the Obama administration is using your tax dollars — mockingly in the name of “freedom.”
As Obama is shipping weapons to fund Syrian rebels, more Americans are asking questions as to whether it is in our best interests to fund their war.
In June 2013, Matthew Feeney with Reason.com reported on four U.S. senators who had proposed a bill to cut off military funding to Syrian rebels. The senators include Tom Udall (D-N.M), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), and Rand Paul (R-Ky.)
Reuters reported in June of how militant Islamists were making up the bulk of Syrian rebels and the reports coming from Syria now of the savagery displayed by the Syrian rebels are beyond disturbing. With the Free Syria Army consisting of rebels who are just as violent as the regime they are “fighting” against, one must ask what the solution is, and next, is this really our problem?
How can we fight “Al Qaeda” in one country then arm them in another? Syria is too great a problem for America to solve, it needs to be dealt with by the international community. We need to not arm terrorists with our weapons and advanced technology.
As for the innocent lives suffering in Syria; there may be little else we can do but pray for them. This civil war has evolved into something more brutal, savage and deadly than anyone in the U.S. could have predicted. But with everything our country is facing; do we need to send money and soldiers to Syria? Should we be putting weapons in jihadists hands?
This is one problem President Obama is not prepared to deal with. He has enough to worry about in America than to risk international scorn by authorizing military strikes in Syria.
What are your thoughts on Syria and U.S. involvement? Do you believe Assad’s regime used chemical weapons on citizens or do you think it was the rebels?
