Syria: Al Qaeda thugs terrorize women at wedding party

A squad of self-appointed Sharia Law cops have raided a wedding reception in the al Qaeda controlled area of Syria, and during the course of the raid, the women in attendance were reportedly detained and beaten. The Business Standard (of New Delhi, India) reported on May 27, 2014, that in the city of Deir Ezzor, a number of Syrian Muslim women were privately celebrating the marriage of one of their own when members of the al Shari'a Law Authority broke up the exclusively women-only celebration on the grounds that strict Islamic law was not being observed by the revelers.

The north and eastern regions of the war-torn Middle Eastern nation is firmly in the grip of the al Qaeda-allied terrorist organization ISIS (The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) has established their own über-struct Shari'a Law compliant caliphate under the governance of the only allowed political party, al Shari'a Law Authority. In one of the largest cities in the area as well as the de facto ISIS capital, the citizens of Deir Ezzor have seen the strong arm tactics of the Shari'a enforcement squads in action on more than a few occasions.

The latest episode was while in strict compliance with the Islamic law of segregation of the sexes, the female half of a wedding party excused themselves to hold their own Muslim version of a bridal shower. That's when the ISIS morality police decided to bust-up the party. In spite of the festivities being held inside a private residence, all seventeen women in attendance were taken into apprehension and reportedly all beaten on the grounds of "listening to loud music and not wearing Islamic dress."

Identified only as "Miriam," one of the celebrants stated that one of the men began cursing the party-goers and hitting them. Even though behind closed doors, the morality police were apparently angered that the women were conducting themselves in a "lewd" manner, according to the report.

Out go the lights...

This isn't the first time ISIS has made the headlines. Looking less like Shari'a cops, and more like the Keystone Kops, The New York Times reported on Feb. 10, 2014 that a bomb-making class ended with a less-than-hoped-for conclusion. As The Times pointed out the obvious, "rule No. 1 in the teaching manual for instructors of aspiring suicide bombers: Don’t give lessons with live explosives."

Reportedly, an ISIS commander was giving a period of instruction to a group of would-be suicide bombers. While demonstrating the proper way of wearing an explosives belt, apparently the now ex-commander unknowingly switched from teaching the proper way to the improper way.

In the resulting explosion, the commander and all 21 of his students all were dispatched to a hasty one-on-one meeting with Mohammed. As one person who's fed up with all the ISIS shenanigans, liquor store employee Raad Hashim reportedly burst into laughter when hearing of the booming boo-boo.

Perhaps some of the meaning may have been lost in translation, but as Mr. Hashim stated:

This is so funny. It shows how stupid they are, those dogs and sons of dogs.
