It's a big summer for travel.

If the packed interstates and airports haven't tipped you off to that, you haven't been paying attention.

Switchfly, the tech company that powers travel bookings and loyalty redemption solutions around the world announced in its annual Global Summer Travel Index that Las Vegas, USA is the #1 most booked destination this summer.

With it's mega resorts, abundance of restaurants and 24-hour casino action, it's no surprise legions of travelers will be heading to "Sin City" this summer.

“We’re delighted to share our bird’s eye view of where people are headed this summer—this year’s lists show a very fun mix of travel destinations around the world,” said Daniel Farrar, Chief Executive Officer at Switchfly. “Naturally, every year is different and summer 2014 is seeing a trend of travel booking popularity to destinations like Las Vegas and Cancun that are known for their nightlife, pool-side and beach scenery. Meanwhile, the travelers looking for longer stays are heading to more aspirational locations like Paris and New York, places that are brimming with internationally famous attractions they want to experience in their lifetime.”

Ranking second on the list would be Orlando, Florida. The list then shows Cancun, Mexico, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and Fort Lauderdale, next in line. The destination that saw the biggest increase in popularity this year was Porto Seguro, Brazil. Brazil just so happens to be hosting this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

In 2013, Las Vegas ranked second.

This summer, the Caribbean is once again a popular destination spot. The Dominican Republic ranks No. 4, Puerto Rico No. 6, Aruba No. 7, Jamaica No. 16 and the Cayman Islands check in at No. 17.

Switchfly's research also uncovered another trend. The average summer vacation length increased to 6 days in 2014. Tahiti leads as the top travel destination according to length of stay.
