Once again, under the leadership of Dr. Jerry Udelson, the practice offered $1 for every pound of candy turned in, up to 10 pounds. In many instances, donors declined any compensation in exchange for their candy submissions.
When donors came in to the office, Children’s Dentistry continued its practice of providing markers, crayons and other card-making materials so that children and adults alike could create cards expressing gratitude to service members.
In light of the inclement weather on Halloween, the outpouring of support--275 pounds in all--was impressive, said Udelson. The boxes of candy that Children’s Dentistry accumulated will go into care packages to troops overseas as well as local Veterans Administration hospitals.
The effort is a sweet salute that is part of a larger national campaign to tap into the tradition of collecting candy from neighbors through Halloween trick-or-treating.
