The Swedish Millenium Actress Noomi Rapace filed for divorce from her husband Ola Rapace on September 17 in Stockholm, Sweden. The couple who were recently at the Venice Film Festival for the promotion of Pernilla August' film Beyond have been together for nine years. They have one child, Lev, born in 2005. Ola Rapace has not signed the divorce petition.

Sweden has a "no fault" divorce system. In a marriage involving children the courts require a six month to one year cooling off period. The same regulations apply to same sex marriages which became national law in 2010.

Noomi Norgren and Ola Norell adopted the name Rapace and married in 2001. The marriage has been characterized as stormy. Ola Rapace was convicted of drug possession in 2008. Since then his career has declined whereas Noomi Rapace's has soared. The couple had discussed moving to the USA so that Noomi could pursue an international career.

In Venice, Ola Rapace claimed he would move anywhere for Noomi Rapace's career, though other sources reveal he is reluctant to leave Sweden. Noomi Rapace has recently signed to star in Sherlock Holmes 2 to be directed by Guy Ritchie in her first English speaking role.

Noomi Rapace was born December 28, 1979 in Hudiksvall, Sweden and she grew up in Järna with her mother and Icelandic stepfather. Icelandic is her second language. Her father was a Spanish flamenco cantoar.

Noomi Rapace expressed no interest in playing "Lisbeth Salander" in the American remake of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, claiming she has brought everything she can to the role.
