New information continues to emerge regarding the SUV gang assault of Alexian Lien and his family in Manhattan. Several of the bikers involved in the SUV attack are facing charges, but New Jersey 101.5 shared on Oct. 6 how one man has emerged as a hero in the ugly incident.
Sergio Consuegra is a name not known by many until now. He was on his way to church when he saw the bikers attack the SUV at 178th Street. This was, as those following the story know, the latter part of the ugly incident of the bikers attacking the SUV with Alexian Lien, his wife and young daughter. While many bikers watched things escalate, Sergio Consuegra did not stand by.
Consuegra saw bikers hitting the car, and apparently one even tried to grab Alexian Lien's wife. Those following this story know that at one point, Alexian Lien was pulled out of the car and physically assaulted. Consuegra says he saw the baby in the car, and he started yelling at the bikers to leave the woman and baby alone. He notes that several other bystanders started yelling as well. At this point, the bikers did back off from injuring Lien's wife or child.
Then, Alexian Lien was on the ground and Sergio Consuegra stepped in between Lien and the bikers. Consuegra says "I felt intense danger at that moment," and he wanted the bikers to know he wasn't looking to engage in a confrontation. However, he was determined to protect the Lien family. Given how intense and violent the situation of the SUV gang assault became, many have a lot of admiration for Sergio Consuegra. Things had gotten violent, and Consuegra himself could easily have been injured.
Luckily, Consuegra's involvement seemed to change the course of the SUV gang assault. Nobody was further injured, and Alexian Lien had fairly minor injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the SUV gang assault, even as many of the bikers continue to try to justify their actions.
