On Sunday morning, Microsoft announced that they are giving away 20GB of free SkyDrive space to people who have Windows Phone devices. Microsoft can certainly afford this as they had a great comeback year.
2014 appears to be an even better year as Microsoft prepares for the release of Surface Pro 3. Sources close to Microsoft tell us that the device will be everything Surface fans have prayed for: It will have a 10.6-inch screen with a 2,560 x 1600 (300ppi) pixel resolution display and a choice of an i5 or i7 processor that produces even better battery life than the Surface Pro 2. Most importantly, the device will only weigh 1.5 pounds--not perfect, but much more manageable than the current Surface Pro 2.
Los Angeles Industry Analyst Paul Mueller tells this column that 2014 will be the year of Microsoft Windows 8.1 tablets. "Windows 8.1 tablets are now proving to be great multitasking machines that are capable of running desktop programs. They are also affordable," he continues. Let's hope Mueller's predictions come true.
