The potential release date may have been revealed by an online retailer for the upcoming Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS video game, “Super Smash Bros. 4.” According to a listing update from Newegg on Oct. 15, the crossover fighting game could be launching in the first half of 2014.
The product page from the shopping website listed that the fourth main installment from the “Super Smash Bros.” series should be coming out on May 16, 2014 in North America. The date falls on a Friday, which isn’t usually the day of the week in which new video game products are released. Nintendo usually launches big-named software and hardware near the end of the week, however.
“Super Smash Bros. 4” was first confirmed in 2011. However, the development for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS video game did not began until the after launch of “Kid Icarus: Uprising” in March of 2012. The first screens and videos of were publicly shown at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo event.
17 fighters have been announced so far for “Super Smash Bros. 4.” The roster includes three new characters: Mega Man, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer.
