As if we have not had enough of Monsanto's garbage “food” that is being allowed to be dumped into the world's food supply. The USDA is poised to actually approve a NEW type of GMO food. Monsanto, the creators of Agent Orange, the anti-foliage agent that was dropped in Vietnam responsible for all the vets cancers and other diseases, has a new apprentence called Dow Chemical who is creating a new type of corn. This corn the USDA is ready to approve and it will be resistant to one of the main compounds found in Agent Orange.
The herbicide called 2,4-D is the compound and Dow has this corn that can be planted and sprayed with it. The USDA could approve production and use of this corn by February 27, 2012. But right now you, the consumer can stop this. http://www.consumersassociation.org/ has an online petition to cut this off at the start before it is approved. Please help by signing the petition and getting it out to as many people as possible.
Why in the world would anyone want to spray their crops with the herbicide that is responsible for killing most of our Vietnam vets is beyond me. Why anyone would have to have a crop that is resistant to this chemical is also beyond me, unless someone plans on dropping Agent Orange from the sky's? Do we not already have enough poisonous herbicides in this world? We are already growing genetically altered corn that is resistant to drought, and roundup and if you are still eating corn that is not GMO free or organically grown then you are killing yourself and supporting Monsanto and Dow's evil intentions.
Practically all corn, beets, soy beans and canola beans are owned by Monsanto and are GMO products. That means the seed has been altered, they are playing God and the results are staggering but not unknown. According to the Organic Consumers Association, there is a large body of evidence indicating major health problems resulting from exposure to 2,4-D, from cancer to immune-suppression, reproductive problems to neuro-toxicity.
In mammals, 2,4-D disrupts energy production, depleting the body of its primary energy molecule, ATP. 2,4-D contains dioxins, environmental pollutants belonging to the "dirty dozen," a group of extremely toxic chemicals known as persistent organic pollutants. 2,4-D was banned in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Quebec and scores of Canadian municipalities after numerous epidemiological studies linked 2,4-D to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma among farmers and members of the general public.
Now, rather than moving away from chemical and energy-intensive GMO crops and deadly pesticides, the USDA is preparing to escalate, letting chemical/bio-tech companies force a new wave of genetically engineered herbicide-tolerant crops. Monsanto's GMO crops are already responsible for new breeds of super-weeds, millions of gallons of toxic pesticides sprayed on farm crops, and the propagation of a deadly new micro-monster that attacks plants, animals, and humans alike.
I urge you, the reader, please take action on this and do not support the creation and feeding of this frankenfood to your family!
