If they serve incredible craft beer in the afterlife, then the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens is Paradise.
If the Escondido Chamber of Commerce does nothing else, they should lean on this place. Every brochure, every flier, every public service announcement should begin, concern and end with mention of the Stone Bistro & Gardens.
Whether you have been to the Gardens or not, everyone who has ever brewed their own beer has dreamed of this place. Picture a clever, appropriate mix of contemporary architecture and old world furnishings. Fill it with glimmering brew kettles and surround it, hide it really, with sylvan, meditative landscaping. Well, the Stone World Bistro is even nicer than that.
One could spend hours walking the tree-lined pathways, admiring the pond, waterfall and fire pits, marveling over the huge rock (it's a stone; get it?) in the lobby, before it even occurs to you came for the renowned Stone brew.
The beer is, of course, outstanding. If you are reading this at all, you already know that. But, have you ever enjoyed Arrogant Bastard ale in a bamboo grove, served to you by an impeccable, attentive staff to rival the Hotel Del? Have you eaten soup with beer in it, beer basted spuds, or mac and beer cheese?
Despite this effort, the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens is one of those places of indescribable brilliance that you really have to experience. Visit on a nice day, which, given its location in San Diego, should not be difficult. Walk the grounds, and if you so desire, take lunch by a koi pond. Sample the beer, try anything on the menu, and love everything about the place.
