This is a big one that few people know anything about, including those who travel often. The key to staying healthy during your cruise includes more preventative measures other than simply washing your hands thoroughly and many times a day. I have developed a secret formula of nutritional supplementation that will give you a better chance to fight-off any potential sickness, which is common when you stay in hotels or on a cruise ship. The type of sickness I am writing about is the common cold, with head congestion, a runny nose, and perhaps a little cough. There are many things that can make travelers susceptible to sickness during their vacation, and one of the major factors is fatigue, which can lower your immune system, making it more difficult for your body to fight-off even the simplest cold virus. Another major factor is the fact that during a cruise on a ship, you are basically inside a giant steel box. If someone sneezes in the corridors or in the lounges, there’s a good chance you might catch something, which usually hits you a few days before the end of your cruise. Below is a formula of supplements I would suggest you start taking two days prior to your cruise departure. You can purchase any brand you like and can get most of these at nearly any pharmacy, or at Target Stores. A brand I would recommend is Nature Made, which offers a decent product at good prices.
A multivitamin will help you to receive the nutritional support you just cannot get from eating regular foods. This will help to boost your energy during your vacation.
Omega–3 Fish oil
The Omega-3 supplements offer a concentration of fish oil that is like a motor oil for your body and helps support cell structure and function. These are the ‘good’ fatty acids your body needs and likes.
Acidophilus – Probiotics
This supplement will help support your intestinal immune system and digestion. During your cruise, you’ll enjoy fine-dining and great food, but your body and digestive tract may get a little overwhelmed with the rich foods. This supplement will assist your digestive system as it breaks-down the rich foods you eat.
Super-B Complex will help your body generate natural energy, better red blood cell formation, and a healthy metabolism. Face it, when you’re on a cruise you want to relax, but you also want to have the energy to fully enjoy the cruise.
This product will help your joints and connective tissues in your joints to run better. During your cruise, you might find yourself walking more than you’re use to, and Glucosamine is like a motor oil for your joints, so you can feel better as you walk around the ports or go on some shore excursions.
Let me give you a testimony of how well this formula worked for my wife and I. A few years ago, my wife and I flew to China to cruise the Yangtze River with Viking River Cruises. We traveled for thirteen days with a small group of about thirty people and our Viking River Cruises’ guide, Daniel Peng. In our particular group, we had a doctor and a surgeon. Towards the end of our travels with the same people, nearly everyone in our group got the sinus congestion and cough, except my wife and I. We made sure that everyday we took our special formulation of nutritional supplementation, and we felt great during the entire trip, while nearly every person in our group caught something. Additionally, every time we have traveled since that Yangtze River experience, we have avoided getting sick during our many trips. I have also given this nutritional supplementation advice to a few others who went on cruises and trips around the world, and they too have returned from their trip thanking me for the recommendation, because they didn’t get sick.
