The Landmark Barbie Collection
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Dolls of the World®, one of the most popular and longest lived of the Barbie collections, Mattel presents the Landmark Collection featuring world-famous landmarks transformed into stunning gowns. Just in time for the 4th of July, The Statue of Liberty Barbie Doll is now on store shelves.
Statue of Liberty Barbie Doll
Designed by Linda Kyaw, the blond doll wears a draped verdigris dress with the face of The Statue of Liberty on the bodice, carrying a purse in the form of a tabula ansata, where the date of the Declaration of Independence JULY IV MDCCLXXVI is inscribed. Her radiant crown and torch shoulder ornament finish the ensemble. I haven't seen her shoes, but if they are true to form, she will be wearing sandals.
The Statue of Liberty Barbie doll captures some of the essence of the famous city she represents but for my money, I prefer the Limited Edition FAO Schwarz Barbie Statue of Liberty version from 1995. See the slideshow below for more photos or visit 4th of July doll displays for more photos of patriotic dolls. (The Statue of Liberty slideshow has disappeared because of an Examiner glitch. Whenever they get it fixed, I will repost the slideshow.)

luv the article! but I thought they could have done a little more with this one....
I agree. Cute doll, but not on my list of favorites.
She looks as if, she's wrapped in a dollar bill. Or I don't know, maybe that's just the impression I'm getting from the background in the box. Still, there's just something not quite right. If you know what I mean?
Got something to say?
