Star Trek villain revealed thanks to 'Entertainment Weekly'?

Was the Star Trek villain revealed thanks to a description at "Entertainment Weekly"? On Feb. 8, 2013, MSN Entertainment reported that the villain in "Star Trek into Darkness" may have been leaked by "Entertainment Weekly"'s description at their "Back Issues Store." Will the villain be played by Benedict Cumberbatch, 36? He was reported to play the bad guy John Harrison, but is he really playing Khan in the upcoming movie produced and directed by J.J. Abrams, a follow-up to his 2009 "Star Trek"?

EW reports Abrams is not talking. "Unsurprisingly, the ever secretive Abrams wouldn’t answer that question - star Chris Pine calls his director a "benevolent dictator" when it comes to spoiling plot lines."

However, if you take a look at the original page of EW's "Back Issues Store," and then the current page, you can see that "Voyage into the new Star Trek Kirk and Kahn" has apparently been changed to "Voyage into the new Star Trek."

"The premise here is that whoever does data entry on the EW website had the inside knowledge that Cumberbatch is Khan," said Devin Faraci at Badass Digest. "I mean, it's possible. I've seen stuff leak out through mishandled publicity materials. More likely this is a function of SEO tinkering or somebody just thinking 'Kirk & Harrison' made a shitty headline."

Perhaps, but one wonders why the original description was supposedly changed.

"Star Trek into Darkness" debuts on May 17.
