Spring Jazz at the Falls begins this Saturday March 1 at The Shops at La Cantera with Jazz Vocalist Slim Man.

Spring Jazz at the Falls is a series of free outdoor jazz concerts held at The Shops at La Cantera for the past four years. These concerts are meant to promote jazz in all its forms and last year the series expanded to include local talent as well as national and international artists.

The first concert is this Saturday with Jazz vocalist Slim Man. The rest of the lineup includes Tejano saxophonist Joe Posada, Nu-Jazz by PM Soul, flautist Althea Rene, jazz crooner Ken Slavin and jazz trumpeter Rick Braun. Start time is 7:30p.m. and attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. The Falls is on the east end of Main Street between Z Tejas Grill and The Yard House.

Saturday March 1 – Slim Man-Jazz vocalist
Slim Man is a singer, songwriter, musician and composer who has worked with The Temptations and Christina Aguilera. His musical style can be described as pop/jazz/soul.

Thursday March 6Joe Posada- Jazz/Tejano saxophonist
Joe Posada is a San Antonio native and one of Tejano music’s most celebrated saxophonist. He is a vocalist and lyricist who has successfully combined Jazz and Tejano to the delight of fans everywhere.

Thursday March 13 PM Soul – Nu-Jazz/Soul, instrumental and vocals
Made up of Pat Carey, Michelle Garibay-Carey and Carl Spann PM Soul perform a unique blend of smooth jazz, soul and rhythm and blues style of music. Not only have they shared the stage with international recording artists but they often perform in clubs in San Antonio.

Thursday March 20Althea Rene – Soul/Jazz Flautist
Althea Rene started playing music at age four as a flautist and has since developed her own style. Her most recent release is “In The Flow.”

Thursday March 27Kevin Slavin – Jazz Crooner
Jazz crooner Kevin Slaivn has been compared to Tony Bennett and Mel Torme with a classy and fresh take on classic swing songs. He has opened for such legends as The Four Freshman as well as performed with the Jim Cullum Jazz Band.

Saturday March 29 Rick Braun – Trumpeter/Flugelhorn
Rick Braun is a vocalist and master of the trumpet and flugelhorn. He has recorded more than 10 CDs with most of them ranking in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart.
