In a study published in Pastoral Psychology, Chinese medicine is not just treating the illness but the whole person, and still to this day modern science can’t figure out the mechanism. The essence of Chinese Medicine lies in spirituality, religion and philosophy making it quite different from western medicine.
Chinese Medicine is based on belief and traditional Chinese healing rituals
The spirituality lies in the Chinese pharmacy, health maintenance, and theories. To be in good health the person must be of good spirit and constantly cultivating good spirit. Chinese doctors “see” people not diseases.
Good health and longevity are what is pursued
The physical pains along with the spiritual suffering are what is studied about the patient. In American medicine the doctor doesn’t even know the patient’s name, not takes the time to ask where they are in their life. Chinese medicine is talking to the patients and teaching them the difference between having and not having and the suffering over it. About keeping the desires at ease and therefore the mind calm and the home life tranquil to be able to achieve balance and harmony between the mind and body, and then with the world and nature.
The whole perspective varies greatly from western medicine
It is not a perspective in which western medicine can quickly integrate into American medicine and hope to achieve what Chinese medicine has over the centuries.
