In one of her Friday answers to questions sent to her on Twitter, Yoko Ono said one of John Lennon's quirks -- and a source of humor between them -- had to do with the correct way of making tea.
"John was very particular about how to make English Breakfast Tea," she wrote on ImaginePeace.com. "He told me that you are supposed to put the tea bag in first and the hot water over it, so the tea would not get cold. I thought it was logical, and followed it for quite a few years.
"When I made a mistake and put the tea bag in after the hot water, he would recognize it. In early 1980, he told me that that was not how you were suppose to make tea at all! Mimi over the phone just told him that the tea bag was to be put in after the hot water was in. We had a laugh."
"Just shows you how meticulous he was about everything, how he didn’t mind confessing to me that he was wrong, and how we laughed a lot," she concluded.

I love stories like this 8^)
I guess now we know John was a tea party kind of guy! For another beatle, check out rare pictures of Paul McCartney at www.jamesfortunephotography.com
Looks like I make it the right way then! As an American, that's comforting to know.
it's all about fusion.
i bet he would scold the pot too!

I'm in the US, but I was taught that the cup and teapot needed to be "primed" with hot water before the boiling water was put in. Otherwise the cup or pot could be cracked from the sudden contact with boiling water. It reminds me of what Donovan once sang:
"People used to spend an hour making tea
Easy easy was the rule
He who hustled was the fool"
Got something to say?
