Only two days after being shot and killed in Oscar Pistorius’ home in the early morning hours of Valentine’s Day, model Reeva Steenkamp will be appearing posthumously in the South Africa reality TV show "Tropika Island of Treasure".
SABC’s promo for the show is “Your Saturday nights have never been hotter,” according to The Huffington Post.
A special tribute dedicated to Reeva, who was the cover girl face of Avon in South Africa, will be presented prior to tonight’s broadcast. Reportedly, Reeva’s mother has given her blessing to the reality TV show broadcast.
"Yesterday the mother agreed that we should go ahead and we are free to go ahead and we are working on how to pay tribute to her," said Kaizer Kganyagon, a spokesman for SABC.
"Tropika Island of Treasure" will feature the slain Steenkamp and additional personalities from South Africa competing for the reality show’s top prize of $113,500.
Steenkamp was fatally shot four times on the morning of Feb. 14. Steenkamp’s boyfriend, Oscar “Blade Runner" Pistorius, the double-amputee track star from last year’s London Olympics, has been charged with her murder.
Pistorius remains in custody and will be back in court on Tuesday.
Early reports stated that Pistorius mistakenly shot his girlfriend believing her to be an intruder, while other reports are alleging that the shooting was related to domestic violence in the home.
Regardless, the world lost a lovely and talented lady with a zest for life and her craft.
Samantha Moon, executive producer for SABC, said of Steenkamp, "she was happy, healthy, beautiful and vibrant and that's the way she should be remembered."
