Simon Cowell tweets statement that praises some 'X Factor' alumni, snubs others

"The X Factor" executive producer Simon Cowell is not one of those celebrities who goes on Twitter every day to post comments. In fact, weeks can go by when he doesn't tweet anything. But on March 18, 2013, Cowell posted a long string of comments that's more that he's done in one day than any other day since he joined Twitter in 2011.

In his Twitter manifesto, Cowell said he felt positive and happy about the future. He also praised some "X Factor" alumni such as One Direction, Tate Stevens, Emblem3, Fifth Harmony, James Arthur and Ella Henderson. Cowell mentioned that sneak-preview footage that he saw of One Direction's 3-D documentary, "This Is Us," is "exciting." The movie is scheduled for a worldwide release on Aug. 30, 2013.

Noticeably absent from Cowell's praise were any mention of "X Factor" U.S. alumni who were on the show's first season. Cowell's Twitter snub of these artists is probably because all of them (Melanie Amaro, Chris Rene, Marcus Canty, Josh Krajcik and Rachel Crow) who have released singles and/or EPs on Sony Music have had flop sales in the U.S.

It's clear from Cowell's Twitter statement that he's placing a higher priority on "X Factor" U.K. boy band One Direction (the world's best-selling "X Factor" act), alumni from "The X Factor" U.S. 2012 (Stevens, Emblem3 and Fifth Harmony) and alumni from "The X Factor" U.K. 2012 (Arthur and Henderson), who will all have new albums out in 2013 on his Syco Music label, which Cowell co-owns with Sony Music. The "X Factor" U.S. alumni have a lot to prove since none of them has a big sales hit in the U.S.

Cowell also said that there are big changes ahead for "The X Factor" in the U.S. and the U.K.

The judging panels for both shows should be announced by May 2013.

As of now, Cowell is the only judge confirmed for "The X Factor" U.S. in 2013. Britney Spears and L.A. Reid need to be replaced. And it has not been announced yet if Demi Lovato will continue to be a judge on the show in 2013, but she and Cowell have said in recent interviews that they both want it to happen.

British tabloids such as The Sun and the Daily Mirror have been reporting for months that Sharon Osbourne (who was a judge on "The X Factor" U.K. from 2004 to 2007) will return to the show's judging panel in 2013. The tabloids have said that Osbourne is replacing Tulisa Contostavlos, who is allegedly getting fired, but Contostavlos has been denying those reports and says she still wants to be a judge on the show. Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh have not announced yet if they are staying with "The X Factor" U.K. on 2013.

Here is the statement that Cowell posted on Twitter on March 18, 2013:

"Just finished my calls to la. I wanted to apologise about not tweeting recently. I have been focusing a lot on work. There will be a lot of changes on X factor uk and USA. But good changes. I feel excited for both shows this year. There will be a lot of changes on X factor uk and USA. But good changes. I feel excited for both shows this year.

"One direction continue to amaze me. Hard workers but still the nicest guys you could hope to work with. The first emblem 3 single arrived a week ago. It is fantastic. And fifth harmony are going from strength to strength. Single soon.

"And still on movies the Paul Potts movie from what I have seen is brilliant. Have just finished the britains got talent auditions. We still have a lot of talent in this country.

"And with everything I have been working on it made me realise that your friends and family are still the most important things in your life. Sorry to cram all this in. Have read some strange things about me recently. I am happy. Healthy. And enjoying life. Hope you are too.

"What I have realised is there will be bumps in your life but the fun is fixing them. If it was always easy life would be boring. And for everyone who has bothered to follow me. Thank you. I have learnt a lot from you guys.

"That's about it for now. I hope to announce something very close to me that I have been working on soon. I was a little deep tonight but it was one of those nights you realise you have a lot to be thankful for. On a twelve hour flight tomorrow so it's time to follow some new friends."
