Start getting in the holiday spirit early with the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction on Monday, November 4 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel. Thirty of Baltimore’s finest chefs/restaurateurs will be serving their great fare along with a large silent auctions with excellent goodies to big on.
At this year's Signature Chefs Auction, you'll have the opportunity to bid on an elegant summer evening cruise for eight people on Ed St. John's fabulous 90-foot yacht, SPIRIT. The party will be treated to a luxurious four-hour weekday tour (Tuesday through Thursday), while being treated to a delectable dinner prepared by our very own Chef Jerry Pellegrino of Waterfront Kitchen!
Kudos to Baltimore chefs and all chefs who donate so much of their time and food to multiple charity events. Honorary Chefs: Chef Opie Crooks of Shoo-Fly Restaurant and Chef Jerry Pellegrino of Waterfront Kitchen
Meet Honorary Chef Opie Crooks of Shoo-Fly! Chef Crooks joined Woodberry Kitchen owner Spike Gjerde on his new venture, Shoo-Fly, in Belvedere Square just a few months ago. Chef Opie has been involved in numerous charity events throughout the city since his tenure began at Roy's Restaurant in 2010, and we're very excited to have him participate in the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction again this year.
Executive Chef Jerry Pellegrino, formerly of Corks and Abacrombie restaurants, and now of Waterfront Kitchen restaurant, is fascinated by food and wine, and the way they work in harmony on the palate. His cuisine is simple and surprising, pairing unexpected ingredients together to work with his restaurant's extensive wine offerings. Chef Pellegrino's restaurant of 15 years, Corks, was set in a quaint 1849 rowhouse in Baltimore's Historic Federal Hill and he transformed it into what Baltimore Magazine called "a miniature utopia for wine lovers." Under his guidance, Corks was named one of Baltimore's top 50 restaurants every year since opening in 1997 and was given "The Wine Spectator" award of excellence. Abacrombie sat in the heart of Baltimore's cultural district and boasted modern European cuisine with an eclectic European wine list. Chef Pellegrino's current project, Waterfront Kitchen, is a true "seed to plate" concept focusing on local, seasonal ingredients.
The silent auction fills almost half the ballroom – one of the largest I’ve seen anywhere.
