Sharyl Attkisson: ‘Obama administration was aggressive on shutting me up’

Sharyl Attkisson, an investigative reporter who recently resigned from CBS News has come out accusing her former employer, CBS News of skewing her investigative reporting and the Obama Administration’s aggressiveness on her investigative news reporting on the numerous Obama administration scandals, Mediaite reported on Sunday.

Attkisson appeared on Media Buzz on Fox News Sunday morning and went into detail on how the Obama administration overtly and aggressively tried to stifle her investigative reporting and CBS accepting their demands.

In her interview on Media Buzz, Attkisson said, “I didn’t run into that same kind of sentiment at CBS as I did in the Obama administration when I covered the Bush administration very aggressively.”

She said that when CBS had a problem with a story, “It never runs… or it dies the death of a thousand cuts, as some of us say. If it’s something they don’t want it will be changed and revised and shortened and altered so much that it’s a shadow of its former self if it does air.”

“Now there's always been tensions, there have always been calls from the White House under any administration I assume, when they don’t like a particular story. But it is particularly aggressive under the Obama administration and I think it’s a campaign that’s very well organized, that’s designed to have sort of a chilling effect and to some degree has been somewhat successful in getting broadcast producers who don’t really want to deal with the headache of it,” said Attkisson.

In relation to her interview, Howard Kurtz of Media Buzz said, “Sharyl Attkisson told us that Obama administration officials gave her "misinformation" and "false information" and tried to pressure CBS into not airing her stories. The former CBS News correspondent said her investigative pieces died "the death of a thousand cuts" and were much harder to get on the air under Obama than they had been under George W. Bush.”

Attkisson’s problems began when she was covering the Benghazi terrorist attacks and other scandals that have plagued the Obama administration.

Katie Pavlich of TownHall, said that Attkisson appeared on the O'Reilly Factor to explain why she made that decision to resign after 20 years. She told, Bill O’Reilly that she was described as being troublemaker for looking into scandals such as Benghazi, Operation Fast and Furious, and Obamacare and that CBS slowly killed off her investigative pieces.
