SeaWorld scores Alan Jackson and Kid Rock for first Bands Brew and BBQ weekend

Although most of the previously booked acts bailed on SeaWorld Orlando's Bands, Brew & BBQ event after being bombarded with slacktivist social media posts and online petitions, the park has scored new talent. This weekend, country star Alan Jackson and rocker Kid Rock will kick off the event on Saturday, February 1, and Sunday, January 2.

The other bands cancelled in the wake of complaints by Blackfish fans. However, the movie itself is now being battered by accusations that its content is less than truthful. Some of the former trainers who worked on the film are now complaining that their views were misrepresented, and the movie crew was also spotted hobnobbing at several premiere events with Lara Padgett, the OSHA investigator in the SeaWorld case. Padgett is now under investigation by her own employer. You can read about the trainers in this article and Padgett in this article.

Fortunately Alan Jackson and Kid Rock aren't swayed by the opportunity to get publicity for cancelling a concert rather than playing it. Considering the fact the Heart is playing at a rodeo in February, it doesn't seem like animal welfare played a big role in their decision to cancel the SeaWorld Orlando show. Meanwhile, acts like Willie Nelson and REO Speedwagon played the event in the past. They apparently only have a problem with it when they can get their names in the headlines for cancelling.

You can see Jackson on the opening day of the event, with his concert starting at 5 p.m. in Bayside Stadium. It's included with park admission, so stick around for the day and cap your evening of lively country music. Kid Rock performs on Sunday at 4 p.m. Just as SeaWorld Orlando is know for rescuing animals, Kid Rock is a big supporter of charity work. Part of the proceeds from his appearance go to his Kid Rock Foundation to help disadvantaged youngsters.

The bands are a big part of this event, but don't forget the brew and BBQ. Jump to this article to learn more about what you can eat and drink. You'll also get a quick overview in the video accompanying this story.
