Canada CBC News posted on October 09, 2013, that, ‘Scientology-backed Ottawa exhibit takes aim at psychiatry’, reporting that “"Extrapolating to say psychiatry kills is gross hyperbole and just wrong," he [Dr. Simon Hatcher, -- psychiatrist] said.
“The Scientology-funded Citizen's Commission on Human Rights exhibit is called Psychiatry, An Industry of Death.”
The Citizens Commission on Human Rights International (CCHR) is a non-profit organization whose stated mission is to "eradicate abuses committed under the guise of mental health and enact patient and consumer protections." It has been described by critics as a Scientology front group that campaigns against psychiatry and psychiatrists.
(Replace "psychiatrist" with "Scientologist" here and this passage takes on an interesting new meaning! It is also ironic, not to say hypocritical, that in Introduction to Scientology Ethics, Hubbard should write: "As the society runs, prospers and lives solely through the efforts of social personalities, one must know them as they, not the anti-social, are the worthwhile people. These are the people who must have rights and freedom." Anyone who criticises Scientology is, by definition, an "antisocial personality" and therefore logically should not have rights and freedom.)
Scientology’s war on psychiatry is evident in L. Ron Hubbard’s dogma:
Hubbard demanded in "Project Psychiatry" that, “Scientologists and Scientology-hired private investigators should find Psychiatric blood-sports. Psychiatric Auschwitz all proven by individual cases …We want at least one bad mark on every psychiatrist in England, a murder, an assault, or a rape or more than one. This is Project Psychiatry. We will remove them.
“In short, Hubbard's own manic paranoia has trapped Scientology into trying to achieve a fundamentally impossible goal: I would willingly bet that there will be psychiatrists for far longer than there will be Scientologists.”
CBC News reported that, “the exhibit is in Ottawa for two weeks.”
“A controversial travelling exhibit denouncing psychiatry and sponsored by a group funded by the Church of Scientology has come to Ottawa.
The group has been asking Ottawa residents to sign a petition demanding the federal government launch a public investigation into what they call the over-prescribing of psychiatric medication of minors. Ilasi said they have had 200 people sign the petition and a thousand have visited the exhibit.
Dr. Simon Hatcher, a psychiatrist at several Ottawa hospitals, said Scientology has a history of attacking psychiatry.”
Many see Scientology as a hate group when critics and other speak out against the controversial organization – Scientology responds with their vicious, and sometimes criminal attacks – with ENEMY declarations.
SCIENTOLOGY POLICY declares: “ENEMY -- SP Order -- Fair game. May be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.
“Not only critics and ex-members are being harassed, but also their friends, co-workers, neighbors and family members.”
