For a franchise that has been around for 30 years, there sure is a lot of new stuff to get used to.
The Milwaukee Wave of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) has a new owner, Sue Black, a new logo (see picture) and a new determination to bring home a seventh championship trophy back to their offices.
The Wave took to the road for its first three games this season and came away unscathed, including a rare shutout of the Baltimore Blast, 8-0, a two weeks ago.
Coincidentally, the Blast makes its way to the U.S. Cellular Arena on Saturday, December 7, for the team's home opener.
It was Baltimore that prevented Milwaukee from earning its three-peat (2011, 2012) last spring.
The game and the many festivities get underway at 6 p.m.
On this anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, there will be an induction ceremony at halftime with recruits from all the major branches of service: Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.
Following the game, American Music Award winner Daughtry (www.daughtryofficial.com) will be performing for everyone in attendance.
No separate ticket is required for the show.
Longtime head coach Keith Tozer has his group primed and ready to go.
Again this year, Tozer has blended in some new faces with the solid corps of returning veterans.
Goalkeepers Nick Vorberg and Marcel Feenstra are back in the nets.
Forwards Ian Bennett and Tenzin Rampa will be called upon to fill it up on the offensive end.
The familiar Marcio Leite and Marcelo Fontana are back as well.
There are a lot of promotions and tie-ins at every home game as the Wave continues its role of good corporate citizen.
Season, single-game and group tickets are available at www.milwaukeewave.com or call the team's office at 414-224-9383.
If you can't get to The Cell, you can stream all Wave and MISL games live at www.youtube.com/milwaukeewave.
