If you are lucky enough to be in Santa Fe for Fiesta, you and your family would thoroughly enjoy the Children's and Pet Parade. Santa Fe is a great weekend getaway from Phoenix. Just fly in to Albuquerque and drive 45 minutes north.
During Fiesta you'll have fun seeing two parades. On this chilly morning we enjoyed the color and good cheer of the Desfile de los Ninos, Children's and Pet Parade.
All members of a Santa Fe Family are included in this annual commemoration. The annual Desfile de Los Niños / Pet Parade is an annual tradition since the early 1920’s. This event is free to Santa Fe children and citizens.
About 2,000 children in costumes participate in the parade, with thousands of supporters and tourists looking on. This event culminates with an awards ceremony on the historic Plaza de Santa Fe.
In addition to the children you'll see plenty of dogs, some chickens, ducks, turtles, guinea pigs and many more pets. I even saw a young girl carrying her pet lizard in a terrarium. There is so much imagination in Santa Fe!
The photo gallery will be in four parts due to the number of pictures I have to share. Enjoy!
