San Diego double-murder mystery deepens with discovery of third body

On Christmas Eve 2013, Ilona Flint, 22, and her fiancé’s younger brother, Salvatore Belvedere, 22, were found shot to death in their car outside a Macy’s department store at a San Diego mall. Ilona’s fiancé, Gianni Belvedere, 24, who accompanied his fiancé and his brother to the mall, disappeared without a trace and hasn’t been seen since the double-homicide.

On Jan. 20, ABC News reported that the missing Gianni Belvedere’s green Camry was found this weekend “about 100 miles away with a man’s body inside the trunk.”

Although Gianni Belvedere’s disappearance was deemed suspicious, he was not named as a suspect in the murders of his fiancé and younger brother.

The body found inside the trunk of Gianni’s car has not yet been identified. An autopsy is scheduled for this week in the hopes of identifying the remains and determining cause of death.

Before she died, Flint managed to call 911. Newly-released emergency dispatch audio identifies a potential suspect at the scene, someone who “possibly left in a 2008/2011 dark gray Honda Civic four-door.”

With no suspects and no motive, the shooting deaths of Ilona Flint and Salvatore Belvedere, and the disappearance of Gianni Belvedere, have had the San Diego Police baffled since Christmas Eve.

Police have said that they don’t believe that robbery was a motive in the murders of Ilona and Salvatore.

Ilona’s family released a statement last night that was shared by ABC News.

“We consider Gianni Belvedere to be our son as much as the Belvederes consider Ilona to be their daughter,” the statement reads.

“The Belvedere and Flint-Jones families thank the media for respecting our privacy during this difficult time.”
