While it's summertime and life may be easy, animal shelters fill up fast; seems as families pack up their cars to head to the beach, they forgot to pack the pooch. Poor little Chico, a 15-pound Chihuahua blend was left behind.

San Antonio Pets Alive is a nonprofit, no-kill organization working with the city shelter Animal Care Services to help companion pets find adoptive homes, fosters, or rescues before their deadlines so they will not be euthanized.

Chico (#298112) has an injury to his rear left leg, but is one sweet little guy. A volunteer writes:

"Chico needs someone to come and rescue him and give him some TLC. Once Chico is all better he will make a great partner to watch "Law and Order" with. Chico is a 4 year old Chihuahua blend who weighs approx 15 lbs."

The shelter is open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
