The San Angelo Blues Society is searching for those blues bands, solo and duo acts possessing the "it" factor that could take them to the coveted International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, Tennessee in February, 2014.

The San Angelo Blues Society is one of only six in Texas holding regional competitions. This West Texas blues band challenge will be held in conjunction with the 5th Annual Simply Blues Festival, Saturday, May 11th in San Angelo, Texas.

The winners in each division will be eligible to compete at the IBC in Memphis and will be provided funds for travel expenses with $1500 to the winning band. Bands from as far as Canada have competed in this contest.

'We have limited openings for the Challenge,' says San Angelo Blues Society administrator, Russ Gest, 'So the time to submit your entry is now, blues people.'

National blues recording artists who have competed in past International Blues Challenges include Susan Tedeschi, Zac Harmon and Eden Brent among others.
