Yesterday, it was announced that Samsung is indeed separating from Android and will create its own operating system. The idea of this has industry analysts split on whether or not it will work out.
Samsung is extremely successful and is approaching a point where they want to take more complete ownership of the mobile experience for customers. Right now, Galaxy phones offer Samsung’s mobile experience combined with Google’s mobile experience. That could change within a year.
"Samsung, like Apple, will create its own operating system. They are in a perfect position to do this. I don't know if it's a good idea though. It is very risky," Los Angeles industry analyst Paul Mueller tells this column. "I also hear Google is not happy about this," he continues.
What do you think about Samsung creating its own operating system? What would you like to see in the operating system?
