When Nicholas Sparks pens a story these days, he does so with the knowledge that it will likely be on the big screen. Nicholas began writing Safe Haven just three years ago. It was published in September of 2010 and was already sought as a movie in August of that year.
Safe Haven, the new movie staring Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel, is a romantic thriller following the life of a young woman after she moves to a small North Carolina town. Her past comes back to haunt her just as she begins a relationship with a local widower. Safe Haven opens tomorrow, just in time for Valentine's Day. If you're in NYC, and various other cities throughout the US, you can catch a 10 PM show tonight!
Nicholas has been busy attending parties and signing books to promote Safe Haven for several days now. Today in NYC, Nicholas signed books at the Barnes and Noble on 5th Avenue. The very first young lady in line got there at 7:45 in the morning, with the signing not beginning until noon. Another young lady leaving was overheard saying, "I'm gonna cry right now, I'm so excited!"
In a much yummier celebration, Nicholas shared Monday night with Julianne and Josh at an exclusive party at Beauty & Essex in NYC. Other attendees included Alan Cumming, Colbie Caillat, Gavin DeGraw, Fern Mallis and Phillip Bloch, among others.
One of the highlights of the intimate celebration were custom Safe Haven cupcakes from cult bakery Baked by Melissa. Inspired by the film, these miniature treats feature blue vanilla cake and green vanilla icing stuffed with fudge, topped with sugar crystals. You can order your own until tomorrow!
At the party, Julianne’s March SELF cover was proudly on display, but the svelte star showed a little indulgence is necessary when she treated herself to a few of the custom cupcakes, which are under 45 calories each.
Those adorable Baked by Melissa cupcakes are the perfect treat while viewing Safe Haven with your valentine! Enjoy!
