The band had been around since 1979 . According to Rolf Kasparek, guitarist and vocalist for the band when asked why the band does not have the popularity or Iron Maiden of Judas Priest, "I don t know why (Running Wild) is pretty much a European band, the first record (Gates to Purgatory) came out in 1984. The first tour we did in America was in 1986 with Celtic Frost", Kasparek said.
The band put out a few records and even supported Motley Crue in Germany and Switzerland . They disbanded fora short while but are back with a blistering new release called Resilient. It's available as a download , CD or even a vinyl record. "A lot of our fans in Europe really want vinyl records, The people want to look at the cover they want to put it on display, or something", Kasparek said.
Unfortunately , Running Wild does not tour anymore. "We don't do touring anymore, we pretty much only do festivals", Kasparek said. Most of the heavy music festivals are in Europe. The chances of them doing something locally are slim but Kasparek said "We are not finished with all of the promotion for this album, yet".
The new album smokes. Songs like "Run Riot"and "Desert Rose' really come through. If you are looking at the cover and think this band resembles Iron Maiden, you would be correct. " We thought we should have a mascot for our posters for our concerts, when we advertise. We had the idea to put this figure around the band and we just did it", Kasparek said. We wanted something you could easily compare with the band", he further stated. The mascot is named Adriane.
