Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has revised its Smoking Policy effective for all sailings departing on or after January 1, 2014.
RCI states that it is making a change to its smoking policy “in consideration of ongoing guest feedback and evolving industry standards. The new smoking policy will address the needs and feedback of an increased number of non-smokers sailing with us, while still valuing the needs of those cruisers looking for a comfortable and accessible smoking area.”
The new policy states that all indoor public spaces will be smoke free. Smoking will not be permitted in staterooms or on stateroom balconies. RCI states that “Guests who violate the stateroom and balcony non smoking policy may be assessed a $250 stateroom clean up fee.”
The exception to the revised policy is that smoking will be permitted in the Casino and in the Connoisseur Club on Freedom and Voyager Class ships. There will be designated smoking and non smoking areas in the Casino.
Outdoor smoking areas will be designated with signage. Smoking will be allowed on the port side (left side) of the ship on Oasis class ships and on the starboard side (right side) for all other ships.
Tobacco cigarettes and electronic cigarettes are permitted in approved indoor smoking areas. Guests can enjoy cigars and pipe tobacco in designated outdoor areas of the ships as well as in Cigar clubs on Freedom and Voyager Class ships.
