Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, 65, has had an eventful week with children. On Feb. 20, 2013, he taught a music masterclass at Malcolm Arnold Academy in Northampton, England. And on Feb. 21, 2013, Jesse Wood (Ronnie's eldest child) and Jesse's live-in girlfriend, Fearne Cotton, announced the birth of their son, Rex Rayne Wood.
TV/radio personality Cotton and Jesse have been dating since 2011. Rex is 31-year-old Cotton's first child and Jesse's third. Jesse says that he and Cotton plan to get married but have not yet set the wedding date.
Cotton announced on Twitter on Feb. 21, 2013: “Jesse and I are over the moon to announce the arrival of Rex Rayne Wood born on the 21.2.13. Beyond in love."
Jesse, 35, is a musician and model whose other two children (10-year-old Arthur and 6-year-old Lola) are with his ex-wife, Catherine "Tilly" Boone Wood.
On August 8, 2012, Cotton announced her pregnancy with this tweet: "Jesse and I have some news!!!!" The tweet had a link to a blog post from Cotton that read: "Jesse and I are very happy to announce we are having a baby. We are over the moon, morning sickness aside (me not Jess) and looking forward to the little Cotton Woods arrival."
Ronnie's other grandchildren also include Maggie Dylan McDonald, who is the 3-year-old daughter of Ronnie's 34-year-old daughter, Leah, and Leah's husband, Jack McDonald. Ronnie's 38-year-old stepson, Jamie, has three children.
The Rolling Stones were nominated for Best British Live Act at the 2013 Brit Awards, which were held on Feb. 20 at the O2 Arena in London. Ronnie said that he could have gone to the awards show but he decided not to go because it was too inconvenient for him. The other members of the Rolling Stones also skipped the awards show. The Rolling Stones didn't win the award anyway. The prize went to Coldplay.
Ronnie commented to The Sun about his three-hour visit to Malcolm Arnold Academy: "I chose to come here instead of going to the Brits as there is too much pressure getting over to the O2."
And apparently, Ronnie hasn't forgotten about the date that actress Scarlett Johansson owes him. As previously reported, he won the date in an October 2011 charity auction at the Vault Couture All Saints autumn dinner to benefit Too Many Women, supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer. The event was held at Petersham Nurseries in Richmond, England.
According to the Daily Mail, Ronnie got into a bidding war with businessman Sir David Tang: "With neither wanting to back down they agreed to pay £13,000 each and donated a total of £26,000 so that they could share Scarlett on a three-way date."
Ronnie commented to The Sun about why he and Johansson haven't been able to meet up for the promised date: "I won a date with Scarlett Johansson but it hasn't come to fruition yet as she has been too busy filming."
Feb. 22, 2013 update: Ronnie has auctioned himself off for a charity date on eBay. The winning bidder paid £1,093. Here is the description of the auction:
"Come for tea with Lord of the Manor Ronnie Wood and Rock Legend Hugh Bonneville.
