The Larimer County District Attorney's Office confirmed today via a case tracking summary that the preliminary hearing for Stan Romanek was rescheduled for May 7. He was previously scheduled to appear yesterday at the Larimer County Justice Center in Fort Collins, Colo.

Romanek, a high profile self-described alien abductee, was arrested Feb. 13 on child exploitation charges related to the possession and distribution of child pornography, according to a press release published by the Loveland Police Department. The Romaneks and their following have maintained his innocence, suggesting he was framed for the charges in retaliation for his public stance on an extraterrestrial presence.

The Department of Homeland Security was involved in the investigation and resulting charges. The DHS announced today in a press release that since 2003 it had initiated over 29,000 cases resulting in more than 10,000 arrests for such crimes. The announcement stated that an inter-agency joint effort recently completed one of the largest online child exploitation investigations in the department's history, involving victims in 29 states and five countries.
