A Ritz Carlton hotel is about to open in Langkawi, Malaysia, in a surreal setting of tropical rainforests, with a private cove and beach overlooking the crystal clear waters of the Andaman Sea on the island's south west corner. Known as the Legendary Island and Jewel of Kedah, Langkawi is famous for its dive sites, beaches and relaxed local culture, offering a rich trove of memories for travelers.

The 137-room, 42 villas-property is a partnership between Ritz Carlton Hotels and Dato Wira Onn Bin’. "Langkawi is one of the great escapes of Asia with its exceptional experiences on land and sea for the well-travelled guest looking for something authentic and unspoilt," said Victor Clavell, vice president, Asia Pacific. "The ladies and gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi will bring the best of the local lifestyle and culture blending it in with our renowned service to create exceptional and memorable experiences."

The resort will cater to couples seeking a serene escape and families. There will be three swimming pools, including one specially created for children, and a specially-designed Ritz-Kids Club. The resort is well located for those who enjoy exploring curated authentic local experiences such as Pulau Payar marine national park.

Restaurants will reflect the diversity of Asia including Malay, Chinese, Thai and Indian, mirroring the depth of Malaysian culture that can be found in Langkawi. Completing the dining experience are a French fine dining venue and an international beach grill. The Spa will offer signature pampering treatments plus rejuvenating experiences, including a hammam that will mark Langkawi as a new spa destination.
