Ringo Starr 2012 birthday show to be released on DVD

Ringo Starr's show with his All-Starr Band at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium on his birthday July 7 last year will be released on DVD March 19, it was announced Tuesday.

“Ringo At The Ryman” features the current version of his All-Starr Band with Steve Lukather of Toto, Richard Page of Mr. Mister, Gregg Rolie from Journey and Santana, Todd Rundgren, Mark Rivera, who's worked often with Billy Joel, and drummer Gregg Bissonette.

The DVD set list features Beatles songs, including "Matchbox," “It Don’t Come Easy,” “Don't Pass Me By,” “Act Naturally,” “I Wanna Be Your Man” and “Yellow Submarine” and solo tunes including “Photograph” and “I'm the Greatest.” Band member contributions include “Rosanna,” “Black Magic Woman,” “Kyrie Eleison” and “Bang the Drum All Day.”

A few friends also join the party. Ringo's brother-in-law Joe Walsh plays “Rocky Mountain Way” and is joined for the encore, “With A Little Help From My Friends,” by his daughter Lucy. Also along are former All-Starr Band members Felix Cavaliere and Richard Marx and Nashville cats Brendan Benson, Kix Brooks, Gary Burr, Vince Gil and Brad Paisley.

The show took place at the Ryman Auditorium, the longtime home of the Grand Ole Opry. The Ryman, which dates back to the 19th century, has hosted appearances by such diverse names as Mae West, Theodore Roosevelt, Mother Maybelle Carter and the Carter Family, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Spike Jones, Hank Williams Sr., Bob Hope and Doris Day.
