Rapper Rich Homie Quan was rushed to the hospital after collapsing while making a music video. The rapper was shooting his “Walk Thru,” video along with Compton rapper, Problem.
According to MTV on May 7, Homie Quan’s label issued a statement saying the rapper was doing “just fine now,” after collapsing in front of the crew and fans.
The “Type of Way” rapper was filming the video in Atlanta, where they were experiencing a really hot day. The heat got to him and he fainted.
When Homie Quan came to, he suffered a “brief seizure.” It was heat exhaustion that started the ball rolling with this medical emergency. The rapper Problem along with Home Quan’s fans watched as the paramedics assessed him and then put him into the ambulance for transport.
According to TMZ, the rapper was first reported to have suffered two seizures during his music video, but it was learned later that he fainted and that spiraled into a seizure when he came to. He was in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park when the incident occurred.
When he initially fainted, he hit his head when he fell to the ground. TMZ reports “he smashed his head badly” prompting a call to the paramedics. Homie Quan is considered one of today’s “hottest new rappers.”
He was taken to an Atlanta hospital where he is recovering today. The rapper was picked for the 2014 XXL Freshman class cover. He is on the cover with a group of other rappers which include, Chance the Rapper, Isaiah Rashad, Tydolla Sign, Lil Durk, Kevin Gates, Troy Ave, Vic Mensa, Jon Conner, Jarren Benton , August Alsina and Lil Bibby.
The group on the cover is called “The Dirty Dozen” and they are quite the diverse-looking brood of musicians. From wearing a college sports letter jacket to farmer’s overalls without a shirt, each of these guys are definitely individuals, with no two are dressed alike!
