When Shadow was first rescued months ago, the six-year-old Rottweiler had been the victim of neglect and starvation, but the sweet gentle giant has since packed on the pounds, yet no one has stopped at his kennel at the Daviess County Animal Shelter in Owensboro, Ky.
Shadow hasn't had it easy; from being neglected and starved, to living in a separate kennel away from other dogs eligible for adoption while his family's court case was decided, he now faces death if no one steps up to give him a home.
Is it because Shadow weighs in at 130 pounds? Shadow loves to be cuddled, eat hotdogs, and take long luxurious naps in the sun. The shelter recommends that Shadow should be the only dog in a home with no small children.
"Shadow is the sweetest guy once you earn his trust and is truly a gentle giant. He is a bit reserved and insecure around new people (at first), but he does warm up to you quickly and eventually eats up the attention...Shadow walks well on the leash, knows sit and shake..."
Anyone know a bachelor guy or gal who needs a pal for long beach walks, basketball and football games on television, or even reading poetry? Shadow wants a best friend. Guaranteed, Shadow will look at his human as the most handsome or the most beautiful, won't mind if you snore, and will be there to rest his huge head on a favorite knee if a moment of sadness occurs.
Shadow is neutered and current on all vaccinations.
