July 30 2011 - Republicans are clearly using economic terrorism to advance a social agenda that they could never get passed through the normal legislative process.
Polls support the fact that Americans of all political leanings like Social Security and Medicare. However, radical Tea Party Republicans claim entitlements for the public are an example of big bad government. However, corporate welfare is OK in the GOP book of rules. The blatant hypocrisy is the biggest joke ever played on the American public.
Nobel economist Paul Krugman said, “The problem with American politics right now is Republican extremism, and if you’re not willing to say that, you’re helping make that problem worse.“
The Bush tax cuts are what caused the decline in revenue to the US Treasury, since they lowered tax rates on the rich to the lowest levels since the 1950’s. And the Bush Administration knew the massive tax cuts were unsustainable, which is why there was a 10 year limit set on them.
The Tea Party takeover of Congress in 2010 was funded by corporate special interest groups who saw their bottom lines go up with the Bush government giveaways and are using their new-found power to undermine the basis of majority rule democracy.
Raising the debt ceiling has never been used by a political party as a weapon against their own country – until now. But the scheme goes deeper than that. The republicans are using the debt ceiling vote as a tool to expose a major flaw in democracy, which is, the entire majority rule system can be circumvented if abused.
