The longer the partial shutdown of the federal government continues, the better Republicans appear to be doing.
"Democrats have lost their lead of the last two weeks and are again running even with Republicans on the Generic Congressional Ballot," Rasmussen Reports announced Monday.
The Democrats edged Republicans, 42-38 percent, in a poll announced on Sept. 30 and Democrats were ahead, 42-38, in a poll announced on Sept. 22.
Current results give the two parties a tie for the first time since Sept. 15.
Meanwhile a Gallup poll released Monday shows that more Americans disapprove of President Barack Obama’s performance in office that approve.
The three-day tracking poll shows Obama is approved by 45 percent and disapproved by 49 percent.
"Gallup tracks daily the percentage of Americans who approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as president," the polling firm said. "Daily results are based on telephone interviews with approximately 1,500 national adults; Margin of error is plus or minus three percentage points."
