With all of the natural disasters as of late, many families are quick to exit a situation and leave behind the felines (and canines) that were once supposedly a furry family member, too. People panic and don’t believe that there is enough time to save everyone, so they pick and choose.
One such victim that was left behind was a special little cat that the American Humane Association’s famed Red Star™ rescue team saved and brought to safety. Of course the team was careful not to fall into the raging floodwaters, but these highly-trained individuals did not consider their safety, only that of the feline that was stranded. They braved the water, the washed-out road and many other obstacles for not only this particular cat but many others like it during their deployment week in flood-ravaged Boulder County, Colorado.
The brave men and women that serve on the Red Star team were able to save a number of frightened animals and get them reunited with their families. The team this time consisted of three staff members from the American Humane Association and two volunteer responders. The team worked alongside Code 3 Associates in order to help rescue animals in the field.
Many organizations banded together in order to help animals trapped and left behind in the flood waters that have yet to recede. Some of the organizations include: PetAid Colorado, Longmont Humane Society, Humane Society of Boulder Valley, the Boulder County Fairgrounds and Boulder City Animal Control.
People do care though and would like their animals to make a safe return but are unable to get to them by themselves. That is why the union of so many organizations was a welcome relief to the families experiencing the loss of a left-behind pet. The animals also appreciated the efforts because they were scared and all alone.
The American Humane Society is eternally grateful to the organizations and applauds these local and regional groups for their hard work and dedication. They helped the communities, animal and humans alike, in their greatest time of need.
Many families are unprepared for a disaster of the sort that hit Boulder County. The people are incredibly appreciative and impressed by the response efforts to help their furry loved ones. They have thanked the organizations over and over.
The Red Star team is grateful in its own right to you for helping to support their efforts as well as the generous support of Mars Petcare US, the makers of WHISKAS® Food for Cats and PEDIGREE® Food for Dogs. Thanks to their generosity, the team and their fleet of vehicles is always prepared and fully-stocked so that they are able to deploy the moment Mother Nature strikes. This preparation and support has been going on for over a century but has been noticed much more frequently lately.
The kitty mentioned in this scenario is safely home. The team has demobilized and is busy preparing for their next venture. They would like to thank you for your support and ask that you keep them in mind for the future.
