Red Mango, a fastest-growing frozen yogurt franchise in the United States, plans to open five restaurants in Puerto Rico over the next six months under an agreement with Good For You Franchise, LLC, the company announced on Monday.

“The first Red Mango store in Puerto Rico will also be among one of the first stores in the Americas with an expanded cafe concept featuring a drive-thru and will open in Puerto Rico Plaza opposite the Interamericana University in Rio Piedras in December,” the company said in a press release.

"Puerto Rico, as a market, is fertile and successful for franchise concepts and that is why more and more of them include the island in its expansion plans,” said Mario Alverio Dominguez, CEO of Good For You Franchise, LLC behind Red Mango's expansion into Puerto Rico.

“Alverio plans to expand Red Mango rapidly with an investment of more than $1.5 million, opening five developer-owned and operated establishments in San Juan and creating some 75 jobs,” the company said on Monday. “Founded in the U.S. by Dan Kim in July 2007, Red Mango has grown to more than 260 locations throughout the U.S., Mexico, El Salvador and Uruguay and has been recognized by numerous industry awards.”
