Red equal-signs posted by Beyonce, Fergie, and True Blood on Facebook walls

Wednesday, the visually captivating red equal-sign has gone viral. Celebrities are plastering their walls with red color and the red equal sign logo. Various versions of the equal sign can be seen in the slideshow above, as supporters paint-the-town-red. According to reports and trends, the Facebook red equal-sign is one of the hottest topics on social media today.

The Human Rights Campaign is grabbing lots of Facebook attention and shares just as the debate over gay rights issues hit the Supreme Court. The case pleadings involve a decision on the definition of marriage, and protests and petitions are being delivered to SCOTUS as they deliberate constitutional law. Watch the video below for a close-up of the viral pagan red campaign supporting same-sex marriage.

The HRC wants people to paint-the-town-red, and Facebook supporters are doing just that. Rob Reiner, Beyoncé, True Blood, and Fergie, are joining with other high profile celebrities in expressing their viewpoint. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are well known advocates of gay marriage, and have waited to have their marriage performed in a country that shows no bias towards gays. Fergie posted her support by using the equal sign without any alterations and commented:

"No words necessary. "

Paula Deen was represented, although we did not find it on her Facebook wall, the variation of the red equal sign was Paula sitting on two sticks of butter with the quote, "It's like two sticks of butter, y'all."

Political celebrities such as Hilary Clinton and President Obama support gay marriage and Hilary’s Facebook page boasts the red logo proudly. While the White House and President Obama do not carry the logo - there are references to gay rights on the Facebook walls.

Earlier it was reported that Rob Reiner declared that “All in the Family’s” Meatloaf would convince Archie Bunker to accept gay marriage. The clips and comments brought attention to how differently America feels today than it did just 30 years ago. The television programming is vastly different, as shows embrace gay topics and portray gay lifestyles as fairly normal. Is art following the trends or is art influencing the trends? Perhaps it is political point of view that is changing; as political leaders like Dick Cheney and Rob Portman experience firsthand the bigotry extended towards sexual orientation.

The question before the Supreme Court is one of legalities; and we will have to wait to hear what the SCOTUS decision is. Petitions and social media red logo support should not affect the Supreme Court ruling based on laws.
