Fall brings the new crop of apples with many choices for taste, texture and uses. We want to share a favorite weeknight recipe that features apples and our herb of the month, thyme. We know you will enjoy this recipe. It goes great with pork chops or chicken.
By the way…if you aren’t sure which apples are good for your use, see Apple Usage Chart.
Quick Apple Stuffing
Makes 4 serving
¼ cup Butter, divided
1 large Granny smith apple, diced
½ tsp Kosher salt
1 tsp Thyme
dash Garlic powder
? tsp Freshly ground black pepper
½ tsp Onion flakes
½ cup Apple juice (in place of some of the water)
6 oz pkg Stuffing (such as StoveTop)
Melt 1 tablespoon of the butter in a medium sized saucepan. Sauté the apples for about a minute. Sprinkle with salt, thyme, garlic powder, pepper and onion flakes until apples are starting to become tender – about 2 more minutes.
Follow stuffing directions, for the amount of water used, except replace one-half cup of the water with apple juice. Continue recipe according to package directions.
