When I look over the past couple of years of interviews I have shared in this column, one of the most common messages I’ve heard survivors discuss comes to mind. This is a gift that has manifested from the raw state the survivor had suffered. Even though each of these survivors may have felt broken mentally, spiritually or physically during their darkest hour, the will to persevere is credited to an unfinished and normally unwelcomed condition.
According to FreeDictionary.com, raw is defined as, “Being in a natural condition; not processed or refined...Not finished, covered, or coated…Not having been subjected to adjustment, treatment, or analysis.”
In a raw state of being, frankly, you are too exhausted to engage in anything but the truth. You are stripped of all toxic layers and this experience gifts you a “do over”.
Loss of job, divorce, broken relationships, bankruptcy, this list can go on and on; hardship comes in many forms but whatever knocks you down really does impart a spark of endurance while it wreaks its havoc into your world.
All you have to do is accept your life by surrendering instead of engaging the negativity. Once you are able to do this, a diamond in the rough will catch your eye. With a little polish, you’ll pick up the pieces and mend stronger than ever.
Raw content is pure and natural; if life has left you feeling this way, its time to find the gift of perseverance and to move forward again!
